Trump Cancels Philadelphia Eagles Visit To The White House

With no one reportedly wanting to go, Donald Trump cancels the Philadelphia Eagles visit last minute.

Well it looks like the Super Bowl Champions Philadelphia Eagles won’t be attending tomorrow’s White House visit as originally planned. According to multiple reports, President Trump has disinvited the Eagles due to the controversy over standing for the National Anthem at NFL games.
“The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow,” Trump said in a statement on Monday. “They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country. The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better.”

Trump later said that he will instead have a “different type of ceremony — one that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem.”

However, what Trump fails to mention is that before he “disinvited” the players, it was reported that barely anyone was going, less than 10 players were scheduled to attend, so before he could get embarrassed he decided to cancel it first.

Former Eagles wide receiver Torrey Smith, who’s now with the Carolina Panthers, tweeted his reaction to the decision, saying Trump once again is playing with alternate facts.
